There are many people across Georgia who watch the Kardashian family on TV and maybe wish they had the fame and fortune that the famous family has. However, many folks would agree that they are happy to do without the divorce drama that the family faces. The most recent reports suggest that Bruce Jenner and Kris Jenner, the heads of the Kardashian household, are currently separated and headed for a divorce.

Marietta couples may not lead the same high-profile lives as the Jenner and Kardashian family, but there may be aspects of this potential split with which many people can relate. For example, the couple reportedly never had a prenuptial agreement in place which means splitting up their combined assets and finances could get very complicated.

Bruce and Kris Jenner have a combined fortune of about $125 million, all of which could be at stake to be divided in a divorce. And despite the fact that they each have enjoyed their own levels of success in life, it is possible that Bruce, like many parents in Georgia, could pursue alimony after spending much of their relationship as a stay-at-home dad.

When one spouse sets aside his or her own career and earning capabilities to raise children and to allow the other spouse to pursue career options, that person can request alimony in the event of a divorce. Alimony can be ordered to allow each spouse to maintain the standard of living that was in place during a marriage.

Child support and custody issues may also come into play for Bruce and Kris. Each of them has four children from previous relationships, but they do have two daughters together who are 16 and 17.

While this story is certainly sensational and very high-profile, there are obstacles in this split that many other couples who are considering a divorce will also have to tackle. And even if your divorce isn’t splashed across the headlines of a newspaper, it can be one of the most significant and challenging events in your life. But with help from a family law attorney, Georgia residents can work towards an amicable divorce with as little drama as possible.
