Atlanta viewers of the “Real Housewives” franchise may remember Bethenny Frankel, the woman behind the SkinnyGirl brand. She and her husband of over two years were documented on the reality television show, as well as several others, as a happy couple. Now that the limelight has faded somewhat, the SkinnyGirl mogul and former Housewife has filed for divorce from her husband.
Frankel had previously said that she and her husband had separated, but there were also reports that the young family were still living together despite the separation. If that was a sign that they had reconciled, Frankel’s newest move makes it clear that she believes the marriage to be over: she recently filed the paperwork to start a divorce.
In a statement, Frankel confirmed that she and her soon-to-be ex-husband will continue to co-parent their 2-year-old daughter, but that she believes a divorce will be the best thing for her and for her family.
As with this marriage, some relationships in Atlanta just don’t work out and it really isn’t anyone’s fault. When marriages end, however, even when they end amicably, there are numerous things that the divorcing couples must consider and come to some consensus on. It doesn’t matter if the husband and wife are of relatively modest means or have the $12 million fortune that Frankel has amassed, divorcing couples have to deal with many of the same issues.
From child custody and visitation schedules to child support to division of property, Georgia divorcé(e)s have a lot to deal with. Working closely with a lawyer who has experience with these kinds of family law issues, however, will make the divorce process much smoother in the long run.
