Stevie Wonder: I just called to say I want a divorce

It has recently been reported that the Motown music legend, Stevie Wonder, born Steveland Morris, has filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years, Kai Millard Morris. The 62-year-old singer has been very quiet about the divorce, saying that he wants the details of the matter to remain within his family and he hopes that the media and public will respect everyone's privacy.

What little information that is available to the people of Georgia is that he has cited irreconcilable differences as to why he and Morris divorced. As anyone in Atlanta going through a high-asset divorce knows, this could mean anything from infidelity to just growing apart. It is unclear if more information will actual emerge about Wonder and Morris's divorce, but their property division and child custody issues may be brought to the public's attention.

Any time couples with considerable wealth and personal and real property divorce, it becomes incredibly complex to divide the marital property. Each party will likely want to preserve his or her rights to property and does not want to come out substantially worse off, as compared to the other spouse. Because of the complexity of high-net worth divorce, many individuals rely heavily on experienced family law attorneys.

Another consideration for Wonder and Morris will be their two children, ages 10 and 7. The two boys have five half-siblings from Wonder's previous marriage and Wonder has filed for joint custody of the children. Because there is little evidence that would support sole custody for either Wonder or Morris, it is likely that the former couple will share custody of their two children.
