An Experienced Marietta, Georgia, Child Support Attorney
Beginning in 2007, Georgia's child support laws have changed a great deal, with judges using an entirely new system to determine the amount of child support necessary to ensure children are taken care of after a divorce. If you are going through a divorce, it is important to work with an experienced attorney to make sure your interests, and your child's interests, are adequately protected.
Attorney William C. Gentry has been helping mothers and fathers work toward a fair resolution in child support cases since 1986. He works directly with his clients to resolve their legal issues and will do everything in his power to protect their rights, whether that is going through mediation or aggressively litigating their legal matter.

How Is Child Support Calculation Done?
Before 2007, Georgia law called for the non-custodial parent to pay a flat percentage of their income to the custodial parent. However, as of January 1, 2007, judges look at a variety of factors in order to determine the amount of child support to be paid, including the income of both parties, the amount of parenting time each parent spends with the children, work-related daycare costs, and the cost for providing healthcare coverage for the children.
Determining the amount of child support to be paid isn't as simple as plugging a few numbers into a formula and arriving at a result. There is a fair amount of discretion left to the judge in these cases and there is much to be gained by aggressively pursuing an agreement that is favorable to you by having and experienced attorney like William C. Gentry on your side.
