Workers' Compensation — What the Law Says

Whenever anyone is hurt on the job, that person's employer becomes responsible for three things:

  1. The employer must make up for lost wages/income for as long as the doctor says the injured employee will be unable to work. This is limited to two-thirds of the employee's regular earnings and is capped at $450 per week.
  2. The employer must pay any medical expenses incurred in treating the injury, including any ongoing care. However, important restrictions and limitations apply.
  3. After reaching maximum medical improvement, the doctor will release the person and give them an impairment rating. The amount of benefits you receive will depend on this rating.

If you have been injured on the job and your employer has denied or cut off your workers' compensation benefits, then it's urgent that you hire an attorney to set the situation straight.
